Professional Fellows visit the Willis Tower!

Discover a new culture together and build life-long friendships -- host an international visitor!

WorldChicago is seeking homestay hosts for 32 Professional Fellows participating in the U.S. Department of State's Professional Fellow'sProgram from October 7 -November 14! Professional Fellows places mid-career (aged 25-45) entrepreneurs, government and NGO officials, and legal professionals at U.S. organizations to further understand of U.S. public and private practices and foster stronger person-to-person grassroot ties. WorldChicago will be welcoming fellows from Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Malaysia, Moldovia, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam, India, Pakistan and Kazakhstan for 1-, 3-, and 4-week fellowships. Stipends are available to homestay hosts for this program. Participants’ are fulent in English.

Participants reside with Chicago-area host families during the program. Anyone can be a host! Our incredible roster of homestay hosts include families of all shapes and sizes, single young professionals, retirees, returned Peace Corps volunteers, travelers, teachers, city dwellers, suburbanites, and more -- all united by a common interest in learning about the amazing diversity of international cultures, while sharing a piece of their own. Hosts provide a bed and some meals, but more importantly, they help immerse our visitors in everyday American life. WorldChicago provides program activities weekdays 9-5.

Description

WorldChicago is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that arranges citizen diplomacy programs for international professionals, scholars, and youth participating in U.S. Department of State and other short-term exchange programs in Chicago.

WorldChicago offers Chicago-area citizens opportunities to forge professional relationships with visiting international leaders and youth explore their fields of interest through meetings with Chicago’s leading voices in the public, private, nonprofit, and tech sectors.

More than 20% of our visitors reside with host families during their stay in Chicago. This is often the highlight of our visitors’ time in Chicago, forging deeper connections and more meaningful cross-cultural exchange. WorldChicago also organizes dinners and social outings for our visitors to engage with Chicago’s diverse, globally-minded citizens.

WorldChicago is an affiliate of Global Ties U.S., a nonprofit membership association with more than fifty years of leadership in citizen diplomacy. Together with more than ninety community partner members and the U.S. Department of State Citizen Diplomacy programs, WorldChicago helps shape international relations "one handshake at a time."
