Rainbow Trust Children’s Charity is the leading charity in England providing bespoke emotional and practical support direct to families who have a seriously ill child. There is no other organisation that provides the range of services that we do. Rainbow Trust Family Support Workers support the whole family, from their child’s diagnosis, during treatment and, if needed, through bereavement and beyond.

Regional Fundraising Group Leader is the exciting opportunity for adults of all ages who would like to be involved in public speaking and raising awareness of Rainbow Trust children’s charity. Rainbow Trust values the wisdom of its volunteers and the wealth of knowledge coming from their life or professional experiences which they can share with the local community.

Main Activities:

The Group Leader will recruit and motivate group members, with Rainbow Trust’s assistance, from networks and contacts in their local community. Some of the activities the group will be involved in may include:

• Organising fundraising events in the local community. The events will be determined by the Group Leader’s interests and availability, and may be standalone events or part of existing events in the community.

• Holding collections at local supermarkets or shopping centres or town/city centres. Rainbow Trust will make sure all the necessary licences and permits are applied for.

• Promote all upcoming events and campaigns by handing out leaflets and talking to people within the community to increase engagement for Rainbow Trust.

• Deliver talks and presentations to local community groups to gain new financial support and raise the profile or Rainbow Trust.

• Attend local cheque presentations to collect donations.

• Take responsibility for paying in cheques in a timely manner, in order to ensure that Rainbow Trust can support more families.

• Source locations to place collection tins and then collect and replace tins from local businesses on an ad hoc basis.

• Set up and manage stalls at local fete’s and fayre’s in order to raise money and awareness of Rainbow Trust.

• Take part in photo opportunities for media press releases on behalf of Rainbow Trust, raising our profile in the area.

• As Group Leader you will be the main point of contact for and link with your local fundraisers, and will keep the group updated about the latest Rainbow Trust news and developments.

• You will chair group meetings and work to attract new members to the group.

Experience and Skills Required:

• Confident self-starter who is prepared to approach local businesses and groups who may not have otherwise heard of Rainbow Trust

• Friendly, enthusiastic and confident manner, both in person and on the telephone

• Happy, 'can do’ approach with a commitment to attend each group meeting

• Excellent communication skills

• Excellent interpersonal skills to help lead and inspire your group

• Creative thinker that 'thinks outside the box’

• Someone that is interested in events management and is happy to 'get stuck in’ at events

• Knowledge and contacts within your local community

• Ability to use basic PC applications
