Area we are mapping to protect girls from FGM

Tanzania Development Trust is a volunteer run organisation that has supported grass roots organisations in the poorest areas of Tanzania for over 40 years. Our biggest project currently is a Safe House for girls refusing Female Genital Mutilation in Serengeti district.

One of the factors making it difficult to protect these girls is the lack of maps of the surrounding area. Therefore we have set up a project to add their villages to Openstreetmap, a freely available online map. We are recruiting volunteers to help map this area using satellite images. This work can be done anywhere in the world as long as you can get online and all training will be given. It is also totally flexible and can be done whenever you have any spare time.
