VISTA Lead

You can earn money for education while making a difference in your community! New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness (NMCEH) is currently recruiting a VISTA Leader to join the statewide team that works together to end homelessness in New Mexico. The NMCEH was founded in 2000 to lead a coordinated state-wide effort to end homelessness. The coalition is a membership of 70 non-profit and government agencies that provide housing and homeless services.

NMCEH serves as the VISTA project sponsor for member agencies across the state that host VISTAs in their year of service. NMCEH VISTA members work behind the scenes to assist in strengthening programs through fundraising, volunteer recruitment, event planning, and educational programming. We are looking for a VISTA Leader to support the statewide team of NMCEH VISTAs in their efforts to build capacity for their host agencies. The NMCEH VISTA Leader will serve as a mentor to the VISTAs and play a vital role in ensuring that the VISTA’s and their host agencies experience an excellent year of service together.

VISTAs serve full-time and make a year-long commitment.

Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) was envisioned by John F. Kennedy in 1963 and realized by Lyndon B. Johnson’s "War on Poverty." Since then, over 100,000 members have devoted a year of their lives to answer the call to service by working to lift communities out of poverty. Now is the time to become a part of this 50-year legacy by collaborating to help those VISTA’s serving with the New Mexico Coalition to End Homelessness!

Successful completion of service through VISTA, AmeriCorps, or Peace Corps service is required for a VISTA Lead position.

VISTA positions are open to all US citizens, nationals, and lawful permanent resident immigrants age 18 or older. Members receive a modest living allowance and support with childcare if needed. Other benefits include student loan forbearance or deference and a Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or post-service stipend.
