We believe that the "personal touch" can help the healing process. Our nursing unit volunteers help our patients and guests by providing information, connections and other support that may be needed.
These volunteers welcome and assist with the transition of patients who are admitted and/or transition to the unit and rounds in a unit to check in on patients throughout the unit.
Volunteers serve as an extra pair of hands for the nurses by assisting our nursing staff with patient discharges, errands, restocking supplies, passing water and nourishment and transporting and feeding patients. They also engage our patients with playing cards, writing letters and might even deliver mail and reading materials.
These volunteers must enjoy conversation, listen well and be able to problem-solve.
Reducing stress and providing companionship lets you participate in the art of healing.
