  • 18 people are interested

We are a Raleigh based 501c3 non-profit dedicated to creating jobs and advocating for adults with autism and/or intellectual developmental disabilities (IDD).

We are looking for volunteer board members with strong leadership and organizational skills, willingness to participate in events, help raise funds, and serve as a champion for our mission. Individuals with diverse business/organization experience are highly encouraged to apply IF they can devote a reasonable amount of time to help take the organization to the next level of success. We currently own one business and are looking to create a second business to employ our client population and to serve as examples to other employers in the region. This is an excellent opportunity to assume a key role for a worthy cause. An Executive Director is on staff to support the board of directors.

About The Power of the Dream, Inc.

Location:

9650 Strickland Rd., Raleigh, NC 27615, US

Mission Statement

Creating jobs and advocating for adults with autism and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities (IDD). The lack of opportunities for adults with autism/IDD becomes glaringly obvious when this population leaves the school system after the age of 22. Prior to age 22, school and several other services are federally and state mandated. For adults with disabilities, services are based on eligibility and availability, and those services are becoming increasingly scarce. The Power of the Dream is an organization that recognizes these challenges and envisions a future where adults with autism/IDD have meaningful choices wherever they live, learn, earn, play and pray.

Description

The Power of the Dream, Inc. leads a Triangle wide community collaboration to creat jobs and training opportunities for adults with autism and/or intellectaul developmental disabilities.
