Lanterns
Participants carry colored lanterns along the walk route--red for those walking in support, white for current patients and survivors, gold for those walking in memory.

At The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS), we're passionate about our mission: to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS volunteers help carry out this mission in so many ways: supporting patients, family members, healthcare professionals, and our community, driving policy advocacy, participating in our campaigns, and helping LLS build much needed capacity.

All LLS volunteers agree to use our volunteer management platform to report service hours, receive email and other communication, access tools, receive LLS updates and use other features relevant to my volunteer role.

At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures. Light The Night is a series of fundraising campaigns benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) funding of research to find blood cancer cures. We bring hope instead of despair by working to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients. We bring communities together to celebrate those who are fighting the disease and to honor those we have lost. We are taking steps to end cancer. WE LIGHT THE NIGHT.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.

Description

Volunteers are our partners in the crusade to end cancer.

In 2017, LLS volunteers made a significant impact while selflessly dedicating their time and talent to achieve our mission. With countless ways to engage, from fundraising to providing patient support, our volunteers are changing the landscape of cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Greater San Francisco Bay Area Chapter was founded in 1972 and serves Bay Area residents who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The Chapter's San Francisco office serves San Francisco, Marin, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The Chapter's Redwood Wine Country branch office serves Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Lake, Mendocino and Humboldt counties.
