The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light The Night Walk is the Bay Area’s night to pay tribute and bring hope to people battling cancer. Light The Night benefits The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) mission to find a cure for blood cancers and to improve the quality of life for patients and their families.

Participants will walk along a two-mile route carrying illuminated lanterns - white for current patients and survivors, red for supporters, and gold for those walking in memory. These lanterns signify how we are lighting up the dark world of cancer as we walk for a cure!

Volunteer positions for this event will include helping with set up and break down, check-in and registration, food and refreshments, face painting, cheering on walk participants, and other various tasks related to the Light The Night Walk. This is a great opportunity for individuals as well as for service, school, and work groups.

Our San Francisco Walk will take place on Thursday, November 17 at AT&T Park this year, and will begin with registration opening at 5:00pm and the Walk itself beginning at 7:00pm.

Mission Statement

The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

We work tirelessly to find cures and ensure patients can access the lifesaving treatments they need. When someone experiences the fear and uncertainty of a blood cancer diagnosis, we provide hope, compassion, education and support. Our impact is felt beyond blood cancer. The breakthrough treatments we helped advance for blood cancers are now improving the lives of people affected by many types of cancer.

Description

Volunteers are our partners in the crusade to end cancer.

In 2017, LLS volunteers made a significant impact while selflessly dedicating their time and talent to achieve our mission. With countless ways to engage, from fundraising to providing patient support, our volunteers are changing the landscape of cancer.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Greater San Francisco Bay Area Chapter was founded in 1972 and serves Bay Area residents who have been touched by one of the blood cancers: leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. The Chapter's San Francisco office serves San Francisco, Marin, Alameda and Contra Costa counties. The Chapter's Redwood Wine Country branch office serves Sonoma, Napa, Solano, Lake, Mendocino and Humboldt counties.
