Casework Intern

One of two resettlement agencies in the state, the International Rescue Committee supports refugees from the moment the receive their flight information to come to Utah for up to two years after. From setting up their home to assisting with the employment search to showing clients around the grocery story, the IRC and its interns work hard to smooth the transition from Harm to Home.

The casework intern will work directly with clients, assisting them as they learn a new transportation system, showing them around grocery storys and even helping to set up and decorate housing. This intern will grow and learn about people with different backgrounds, just as our clients do.

To apply, please submit a resume and brief statement of interest to volunteerSLC@rescue.org ASAP.

About International Rescue Committee

Location:

221 South 400 West, Salt Lake City, UT 84101, US

Mission Statement

The International Rescue Committee serves refugees and communities victimized by oppression or violent conflict worldwide. Founded in 1933, the IRC is committed to freedom, human dignity, and self-reliance. This commitment is expressed in emergency relief, protection of human rights, post-conflict development, resettlement assistance, and advocacy.

Description

Each year, thousands of refugees are invited by the U.S. government to seek safety and freedom. Forced to flee conflict or persecution, many refugees have survived against incredible odds. Refugees step off the plane with next to nothing but their dignity, hope, and determination. In Salt Lake City, the IRC helps approximately 500 refugees each year to rebuild their lives.
