Service learning is an educational experience that meets real community needs in collaboration with schools and the community. It requires active student participation and is student led. Academics are integrated into the service learning projects to enhance what the students are taught in school. Long-term, goals of service learning are to provide opportunities for students to apply new knowledge in their own community and to foster a sense of empathy and civic duty.

Service Learning Facilitator expectations: attend training; lead service learning projects for groups of 8-12 students; commit to serving for 1 semester or 1 school year. Most service learning will be conducted after school from 4-5:30 PM.
