Volunteer with Therapy Pet Pals of Texas and help us bring the unconditional love of our pets to those who need a little sunshine in their lives! We train volunteers and their calm, friendly, obedient dogs and cats to provide pet therapy to the elderly and ill residents of healthcare facilities in our community.
Our training includes a two hour Qualifying and Training Class and a minimum of three individual training sessions at one of our cooperating facilities. Our volunteers visit their assigned facility at least twice a month and are able to bond with the residents, creating strong, lasting fridendships.
Why not share the love and laughter that your dog or cat gives to you with those in need of the love and laughter that only a sweet furry, pet can give!

(1) Recruiting and training volunteers for pet therapy work; (2) Working with healthcare professionals in institutions where pet therapy would be beneficial; (3) Providing patients and residents an opportunity for bonding with pets through weekly visits; and (4) Promoting and publicizing pet therapy.
Description
Therapy Pet Pals of Texas (TPPT) is a 501 (c) (3), tax-exempt organization providing pet therapy to the elderly and ill institutionalized members of our community. TPPT was founded in 1984 and serves in 90 healthcare facilities, of which 85% are nursing homes. Our volunteers and their calm, friendly, obedient dogs/cats have served in nursing homes continuously for the past 32 years. From very humble "grassroots" beginnings in 1984, we have grown to over 200 trained volunteers, with a high demand for more Pet Pal Programs throughout our Austin/Central Texas service area, as well as our The Woodlands/Houston area chapter. No fee or service charge has ever been required for out Pet Pal programs; our services are free to all healthcare facilities/institutions in need of pet therapy.
