Do you enjoy developing one-on-one relationships with youth? Do you enjoy teaching? Would you like to support immigrant youth in East Boston with their academic work?
You could be an amazing fit to join the volunteer team at SWB Boston, a free, after-school program that works with 250+ immigrant youth in East Boston every year.
We are planning to launch an individualized tutoring program this fall where we will pair volunteers with kids and have them meet on a consistent basis throughout the academic year at the East Boston Public Library.
We are seeking adult tutors for our middle and high school-aged participants. The tutoring schedule would be determined between the volunteer and the student. Ideally tutors commit to the entire school year, so that they would be able to develop lasting and meaningful mentor relationships with our youth. Tutors with a background of teaching English as a Second Language is preferred.
