Why Volunteer with hospice?
Your offer of time and effort will enable someone to feel cared for in the final path of his/her journey of life. You will become part of a friendly & supportive team, increase knowledge in hospice care, and create lasting memories. As a volunteer, you will be visiting patients and their families in their homes. You'll also have opportunity to use your unique set of skills to bring comfort and emotional support to hospice patients.
We're looking for individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of the terminally ill and their families. The best volunteers have the desire to serve others, patience, and great personal skills. Instead of considering volunteering as something you do for people who are not as fortunate as yourself, begin to think of it as an exchange. Once you’re on the volunteer job, you will continue to serve as long as you feel that your efforts are accomplishing something, that your talents are appreciated, and that you make a difference. And if you also like the people with whom you work, so much the better!
Ideally, we recommend volunteers who are 18+ years of age and have the ability to drive in order to visit patients conveniently in their homes. However, students who are under the age of 18 are still more than welcome to join our volunteer services but will primarily assist with clerical and administrative work.
