Are you looking for a volunteer opportunity in the Columbia, SC area? Volunteer at the South Carolina State Museum. Many different volunteer opportunities are available AND you can choose a schedule to meet your availability. The museum is open every day from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Tuesday evenings until 10:00pm.
There are numerous types of volunteer opportunities such as curatorial assistants, gallery monitoring, museum guides, education, and greeting guests. If you are interested in being a tour guide, there are opportunities once you become a volunteer to gain further training in leading tours and education stations! Museum volunteering helps build your resume or can enhance your retirement years through community and fellowship.
Training is free. All materials are free.
You will be volunteering with friendly people. You may pick your own schedule to match your availability. Volunteers receive generous discounts at the museum store and cafe and get free guest passes. Parking is also free and plentiful.
The first step is to attend a museum orientation, "Museum 101". Please contact Pam Borawski at Pam.Borawski@scmuseum.org for more information and to reserve your place at the orientation. There is are trainings held each month, so please contact Pam for further training dates.
