About

City Tutors (CT), the tutoring arm of the Colin Powell School, is currently looking for two tutors to provide academic support for students in Intermediate Micro and Macroeconomics courses.

Tutors for the Intermediate Economics courses will serve in the role of study group leaders. In this role, you would take the lead to improve students’ performance while being supported and guided by CT coordinators.

All majors are welcome to apply. This is a great opportunity especially for Economics/Business Management/Finance majors or minors.

You should consider applying if you

  • are interested in building professional contacts with faculty and staff at the Colin Powell School who can later speak to your professional capability at the cross section of your academic interests,
  • would like to help your peers and make an impact on students' classroom learning experience,
  • and if you are interested in exploring your academic interest area at the cross section of education.

If you are applying for the study group leader position supporting the Intermediate Economics courses, you need to have

  • taken the same intermediate economics course you wish to tutor,
  • received A- or A in that economics course,
  • have an overall GPA at 3.2 or higher

All City Tutors are expected to complete a four session comprehensive, professional training regimen. 6 hours of live training, plus another hour and a half for orientation. This is a commitment of 7.5 hours of in person training, and 4 hours of supplemental training for a total of 11.5 hours of training over the course of the Fall semester.

If you are unable to attend the regular training sessions, you will need to attend makeup sessions. The dates for these sessions will be determined based on your schedule and that of the Tutor Training Coordinator’s.
