UniversalGiving(r) is an award-winning website allowing people to donate and volunteer with top performing vetted projects all over the world. People can volunteer at a community clinic in Uganda or give $25 to help a rural school in Nepal. Unique to UniversalGiving, 100% goes directly to the cause. UniversalGiving Corporate provides Strategy, Operations, and NGO Vetting to scale companies’ CSR programs in more than 120 countries; our Corporate Services allow us to become self-sustaining. UniversalGiving has been featured on the homepage of Bloomberg, Oprah.com, CBS, The Wall Street Journal, and TheNew York Times.
UniversalGiving just celebrated 10 years and 10,000 global volunteers matched with NGOs in more than 60 countries across the world. We are now rebuilding our website with new technologies. Our goal is to have a site that can handle partnerships with major media organizations, such as CBS during times of crisis/natural disaster. When a crisis occurs and is featured on TV, people will give through UniversalGiving. Our site must be robust, have excellent performance and the ability to handle millions of visitors.
We are currently recruiting a senior engineer and full stack developer to develop our new site in tandem with a local design consultancy. Unfortunately, however, our resources are limited for the rebuild and we are in need of someone to coordinate efforts between a design consultancy, two paid engineers, and multiple volunteer engineers. We need someone who can work with UG staff and leadership, keep tabs on development teams, and help make our ambitious vision into a reality. We’re looking for ambitious students or other individuals eligible to volunteer or work as an unpaid volunteer intern this fall and help make this website a reality.
We need an organized, socially conscious individual who wants to gain experience coordinating volunteer and developer efforts. We need someone who is attentive, dependable, and interested in working on an enterprise-scale software design project. This is a great opportunity to contribute to a large-scale web development project, volunteer with a motivated team, learn a lot, gain valuable experience, and be a positive force for change.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable coordinating with multiple different groups of people to make our vision into a reality. We have many different groups of people who will be working on this website build, and it is absolutely crucial to have a competent person working with and leading them. Volunteer Product Managers will coordinate between the CEO, design consultancies, volunteer developers, and staff developers. The Volunteer Product Manager does not have to have experience managing an agile development team; the design consultancy will provide a professional product manager to handle the buildout (although a familiarity with Agile development concepts will make this position easier). Instead, we need someone who is dedicated to the mission and vision of UG and can ensure that these different groups of individuals are all able to contribute effectively. This individual will be the figurative "glue" between these different teams.

Essentially, UG has all the components to make this site build a major success. We need someone to act as a go-between and ensure everything runs smoothly.
