Training
Working with a new puppy!

We are always looking for new team members to join us!

We are a team of dedicated professional volunteers that train weekly to provide capable and professional searchers and K9's to the Chester County Community. We are available for call-outs through fire and police agencies. We are a fully insured, 501(3)(c) organization. Our team name is ChesCo Search Dogs. Find us on Facebook or at ChesCoSearchDogs.org

Our focus is providing and supporting K9 resources and trained ground searchers.

We do not provide K9's nor do we train your dog. We provide a friendly and supportive organization to help you and your dog achieve the goals you wish to. We offer advice, support and training tips, but ultimately you are your dogs trainer.

We arrange weekly team training, (sometimes more), training sites and "missing" subjects as needed to train with.

Ground searchers are trained to work with the K9 handler and K9 as a K9 task as well as training to be part of general search teams.

All team members, with or without a K9, wanting to be deployed as a searcher, are expected to work and achieve the NASAR SAR Tech II certification at a minimum. This can take up to two years depending on your dedication and current skills.

Training includes, map and compass training, orienteering skills, tracking skills, first aid, use of ropes and knots, radio communications, NIMS & ICS training, search documentation and paperwork.

Not interested in all of that stuff? We also have command and support roles and administrative positions with the team.

If you are interested in us, we are interested in you!!

Please, if you don't think you'll be in the area in 2-3 years, please reconsider. It typically takes 18-24 months to really get the training you need to be a valuable, deployable team member. But we are always willing to talk!
