Adrian Bloom Overlook Garden in 2007

Here at Yew Dell, our gardens are constantly changing and needs for volunteer assistance vary from season to season. Our Monthly Monday Workdays which occur the 3rd Monday of each month from 1pm-4pm are a great place to get involved! Anyone age 14 and older is welcome! We really encourage small groups (10 or less) to come participate in these workdays as well. Volunteers engage in activities like weeding, pruning, mulching, raking, planting, cleaning and so much more. You'll work alongside skilled horticulturists who will provide instructions and training. This is a great way to foster a sense of community, celebrate the beauty of gardening and learn from some of the greatest horticulturists in the region!

If you or your group are interested, please contact Laura Ryan, Yew Dell Volunteer Coordinator, at Thanks for your interest!

About Yew Dell Botanical Gardens

6220 Old LaGrange Road, Crestwood, KY 40014, US

Mission Statement

The mission of Yew Dell Gardens is to continue the horticultural legacy of Theodore Klein; to encourage exploration of the arboretum, gardens and extraordinary architectural setting; and to provide opportunities for education, enrichment and enjoyment.

Yew Dell Botanical Gardens is dedicated to garden education, exquisite display and research into new and superior plants for the region. The grounds boast an impressive collection of unusual plant specimens, outstanding gardens in a wide array of styles, and unique buildings including a stone castle, extensive fieldstone walls and a Cotswold's-styled fieldstone house. Garden classes are offered for all groups including school children, homeowners, avid gardeners and green-industry professionals. Ongoing research involves collection and evaluation of a wide variety of garden plants as well as breeding and selection to develop new plants for regional gardens. Community and rental events round out the rapidly growing slate of annual offerings.
