Event Planning Volunteer - Gala Auction & Entertainment

Solidarity Bridge, an Evanston based nonprofit, provides critical medical care and Fair Trade partnerships to those living in poverty in Latin America.

We are seeking volunteers to participate in our Auction and Entertainment Committee for our annual gala. This gala takes place at the end of April and provides vital support to our programs.These volunteers will assist with planning the entertainment for the evening, which includes but is not limited to: managing the procurement and display of live and silent auction items, planning the raffle, assisting with décor and ambiance of the event. This volunteer role will work closely with the development director.

This position will require approximately 2-5 hours a week starting immediately through April 2017; with the potential of longer hours shortly before the event. Volunteers must be able to attend the gala itself, taking place on April 29 th, 2017 at the Hotel Orrington in Evanston. Ideal candidates will have:

1. Strong social skills and comfort with soliciting auction items for the event.
2. Reliable access to transportation - ideally, a car - to assist with picking up auction items.
3. A penchant for organization, detail, and aesthetics
4. A creative eye and crafty spirit to assist with the packaging and display of items
5. Basic computer skills
6. Ability to handle light physical labor, such as placing boxes on shelves, moving items around, and using step stools and ladders to reach taller storage areas.

Previous experience in event planning and/or securing silent auction items is a plus!
