Mock interviews in action

Each semester, So Cal ROC partners with our friends in the community to provide our students a chance to participate in mock job interviews. This builds student skill and confidence, and is a great networking opportunity for those volunteering to conduct the interviews.

Depending on the time you volunteer, and your preference, you will either conduct pretend interviews with our students, or model for, coach and evaluate the CSU / Marymount student volunteers in conducting their interviews. We will provide you with a how-to sheet to conduct the brief ten minute interviews and what to look for to give feedback.

The day of the event, we ask that you dress professionally as if you were going to an interview. If you can only do a portion of the three hour block, we will accommodate you. Good communication skills are essential.

Mission Statement

The mission of SoCal ROC is to provide all students through industry-linked programs the skills and knowledge necessary to attain their career goals in order to become economically self-sufficient and be a successful contributor to society and a global economy.

Description

The Southern California Regional Occupational Center served as the model for the State of California when Regional Occupational Centers were founded in 1967. At that time the centers were intended to provide training for trades in traditional occupational settings. With the 21st Century, came new challenges and higher expectations for the work force. Today, the wage earner has to be more educated, more technically dependent and more self-reliant than was his/her counterpart 40 years ago. Yet, the Southern California Regional Occupational Center has remained the model for the State through the development of innovative programs, a major emphasis upon technology, and an awareness that Career Technical Education is for everyone, from the individual seeking to enter the job market with upgraded skills, to the college-prep student desiring greater academic challenge and the opportunity to apply knowledge learned.
