Care Team Volunteers assist clinical staff to meet the needs of the children and families staying at Ryan House. While the Care Team is responsible for all direct care of the children, in-house volunteers also play a vital role in supporting the needs of the Ryan House. Roles include activities directly with the children such as reading, arts and crafts, games, playing music and more.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age, be accepted through an interview process, attend a 24-hour orientation and commit to a 4 hour shift every week for a minimum of one year. If you are interested in becoming a Care Team Volunteer, please submit an application online through Hospice of the Valley, our Care Partner, and check Ryan House on the application form.

About Ryan House
Location:
110 West Merrell Street, 1st floor, Phoenix, AZ 85013, US
Mission Statement
The mission of Ryan House is to provide essential care in a home-like setting where children with life-threatening conditions and their families may come for respite and, as needed, end of life care.
Description
Ryan House opened March 29, 2010 and is the first pediatric palliative care home in the southwest to welcome children with life-threatening conditions and their families for essential care including:
- respite care (short term breaks)
- pediatric palliative care (life-affirming care that offers comfort and support for the child and family members from the time of diagnosis and continuing throughout the child's life and beyond)
- quality-of-life services, including opportunities for art, music, warm-water, multi-sensory opportunities, and pet therapy
Ryan House welcomes up to eight children and three families at a time and offers up to 28 days per year of short-term respite at no set charge. Care at Ryan House is provided by a Care Team including nurses, certified nurse assistants, child life specialist and clinical resource coordinator, social worker, and spiritual care coordinator. The comprehensive child- and family-centered care is provided in place of the care the family provides for the child round the clock at home.
Ryan House is currently seeking enthusiastic, passionate and responsible volunteers at upcoming opportunities for fundraising and awareness.
