The Bubble Foundation Volunteer Wellness Educators teach wellness classes to pre-K and elementary
students in one of our partner NYC schools (currently in Manhattan: East Harlem and the Bronx:
Kingsbridge). Volunteers will use Bubble curricula to teach one or two interactive 45-min classes per
week on topics relevant to food and health (e.g., cooking, nutrition, gardening, agriculture, food
literacy). Wellness Educators are asked to commit to teach for the entire academic semester and will be
paired with at least one co-teacher with complementary skills. We provide complete training to our
volunteers and focus on professional development throughout the committed semester.
Throughout this volunteer experience, Wellness Educators will gain skills in: nutrition education, garden
education, culinary arts education, cooking, teaching, classroom management, teamwork, public
speaking, working with kids who are challenged with health inequities.

Mission Statement
Our mission: every child in the United States, regardless of socioeconomic status, will have access to activities and food that inspire a healthy and happy life.
Each BUBBLE adventure begins with a charter school that shares this mission. Together, we design a nutrition and fitness program that complements and expands on the school’s current efforts, filling in the gaps left by lack of funding, resources, or sometimes information. Working with our partner schools over a two-year period, Bubble lays the groundwork for a school-wide commitment to fitness and nutrition that will continue for years to come. We offer our programming free of charge to partner schools, asking only that they commit to continuing the programming that we develop beyond our formal two-year partnership.
Description
Bubble recruits volunteer teachers with backgrounds in health and wellness, nutrition, and relevant areas, and trains them to deliver EATS classes using Bubble curricula. Classes occur once a week during the school day in the students’ regular classrooms, and last the length of a normal class period. Each child in the school receives EATS classes for one semester/year; schools choose which grades will receive EATS classes in the fall and the spring. Bubble purchases equipment required for Bubble classes, such as cookware and utensils.
