Saturday, October 1, 2016 (Event day)

7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Multiple shifts available)

Volunteers are needed to support the Second Annual Harvest Festival at Martial Cottle Park! The event will include farm tours, pumpkin painting and carnival activities, historical ranch activities, food vendors, live music, a corn maze, fresh organic produce for sale, square dancing, face painting, and much more!

There are many special event volunteer positions to choose from including set up, tear down, activity stations and more. Each are integral to the success of the festival! Please let us know your top three (3) choices when you register. Some positions have special requirements or preferences (ex: ability to lift 50 lbs.) Volunteers will receive a confirmation with their placement once they are registered and an event reminder prior to the Harvest Festival.

All volunteers should bring a water bottle, sunscreen and hat. Snacks for volunteers will be available, but please bring a lunch or money to purchase lunch from the food vendors.

Please note: Harvest Festival volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Volunteers age 16-17 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a volunteer waiver before they can participate.

Job Shift Description Friday set up - September 30 8:00 am - 12:00 pm Volunteers needed: 25
Place/set up canopies, tables, sand weights, chairs
Place/set up event signage
Place garbage/recycling/compost receptacles and water stations
Clean and arrange pumpkins, set up carnival activity areas
*Must be able to lift 30-50 lbs.
**Appropriate for groups Morning event set up - October 1 7:00 am - 10:00 am Volunteers needed: 25
Assist exhibitors/partners with set up
Set up canopies, tables and chairs
Set up crafts, pumpkin activities
**Appropriate for groups Parking Lot Monitors/Trail Watch 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 5 (2 in each lot, + 1 floater)
Direct visitors and assist rangers with monitoring parking lot traffic
Trail watch duties throughout park and festival
*Must be 18 years old or older Water Station Volunteers 9:30 am -3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 2 per station (6 total volunteers)
Keep water flowing, make sure cups are available for visitors.
*Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Welcome Table 10:00 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 4
Assist staff, control handout items, assist with craft activity Farm Tours 10:00 am - 3:30 pm Volunteers needed: 3
Assist farmers by keeping tour group together, asking visitors to not pick produce or walk on the beds Corn Maze 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 4
Monitor corn maze, volunteers will be staged throughout to keep participants safe
Assist with line control and maze traffic Hay Wagon Ride Start 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 10
Monitor Line and Roadway. Must be able to help enforce safety and line management. Bubble Station 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 2
Monitor and manage bubble station Haybale Pulley 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 2
Monitor activity, demonstrate pulleys as needed, talk to visitors about pulley systems Photo Cutout Attendant 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 2
Take photos of visitors
Monitor line/crowd control
*Photography skills preferred, must be friendly Pumpkin/Carnival Zone (pumpkin decorating, relay, bowling, guess the size) 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 20
Monitor pumpkin patch, stamp hands, monitor materials for decorating, ensure visitors write their name on pumpkins (10 volunteers)
Run the pumpkin relay race, monitor for safety and for race rules, keep time (4 volunteers)
Monitor pumpkin bowling, reset pins (3 volunteers)
Monitor and explain "Guess the size of the pumpkin" activity (2 volunteers)
**Appropriate for groups of 5-6 Master Gardeners 8:00 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 10
Assist Master Gardeners with morning set-up 8:00 - 10:00 am, help run activities during the event, and help with cleanup/teardown. Drivers for ADA Shuttle 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 6
Shuttle between festival entrance, food area, parking lots and other areas.
*Must be County-Authorized Driver Face painting 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 4
Line/crowd control. Single line control for two stations. Truck & Tractor Area 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 2
Keep visitors off equipment
Assist with taking photos Milking Cows 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 2
Monitor and manage demonstration milking cows.
*Must be 18 years old or older Tear Down Crew 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm Volunteers needed: 25
Pick up litter
Collapse and consolidate tents, tables, chairs, signage
Assist exhibitors/partners with tear down
Cleanup activity areas
**Appropriate for groups Jack of All Trades Volunteers 9:30 am - 3:00 pm Volunteers needed: 10
Jump in where needed at various stations when they get busy or to relieve others for breaks
