As a tutor, you will work with students on identifying basic computer components such as the monitor, hard drive, keyboard etc. Activities may also include typing (training software provided), password log-ins, using e-mail, etc. The computer lab typically has from 5-10 students.
Monday-Thursday Morning volunteers are needed from 8:00-9:30
Monday and Tuesday Evening volunteers are needed from 4:30-6:30
Wednesday and Thursday Evening volunteers are needed from 4:30-5:30
The English Learning Center is a program of Our Saviour's Community Services, a community-based nonprofit. We provide English (ESL), math, citizenship, computer and reading classes as well as advocacy to adult immigrants and refugees in the Phillips neighborhood of South Minneapolis. Currently the English Learning Center serves nearly 400 adult students each year. It has become a well-known community center for immigrants and refugees from all around the world. We are a volunteer-based organization: over 130 volunteers teach all the program classes.
Our classes meet in the morning and evening. Morning English classes meet Monday-Thursdays, from 9:30-11:45am. AM Math and Citizenship classes meet Wednesdays from 12-1pm. AM Computer Class meets Mondays, 12-1pm. PM English classes meet from 6:45-8:30pm. Citizenship, Math, Computer, and Reading Circle meets 5:30-6:30pm. (http://oscs-mn.org/englishlearningcenter/)
