Description of Volunteer Opportunity. The volunteer will be expected to stay with a rural family in a remote village of India. The host family would take care of the boarding and lodging and the village elders would be his mentors. The volunteer would be expected to learn and understand the village in detail, prepare a profile of the village, it’s resources and weaknesses. The information would be hosted on the website of Drishtee for partners to offer their support. The VV would be expected to be a change agent for the village for rebuilding hope and self belief. By developing small groups and jointly identifying micro projects, the VV would be able to reignite the spirit of enterprise and cooperation which has been their hallmark of sustainability in the past. We are looking for committed and passionate volunteers with a burning desire to make a meaningful and long term impact on the development of marginalized rural communities in India. Desired Skills and Expertise. Graduate with a basic inclination to study human nature and a passion to undertake research in rural life and contribute to development of marginalized communities of remote villages of India. Candidate should have a positive attitude and empathy for achieving the mission. Volunteer Logistics Estimated Time Commitment (Hours per Week). Full time. Stay and operate from the village. Estimated duration of project. 6 months to 1 year. Location. On site. In villages across India Stipend. Rs 15000 per month in addition to Boarding, lodging and travel expenses.
