Description of Organization
The Asian Pacific American Dispute Resolution Center provides mediation, conflict resolution services, and restorative justice practices to the diverse communities in the Los Angeles and San Gabriel region. Through our mediation and restorative practices, we offer people an alternative to costly and time-consuming court services. We also strive to improve human relations and race relations by addressing complex, cross-cultural community conflicts and their root causes through collaboration with community partners. We are dedicated to serving traditionally under-served and underrepresented people in order to ensure equal access for all.
College Intern and Volunteer DutiesThe Center is looking for people who have an interest in community and grassroots work. All interns and volunteers should be organized, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to learn. Strong writing and speaking skills is preferred.
The APADRC is looking for Interns to learn about administrative responsibilties. You will learn aspects of HR, IT, Accounting and Admin. Learn about federal and local laws. This is strictly for people who want to learn about admin and not do paperwork all day because anyone can do paperwork. You will be challenged and asked to do analytical thinking in terms of our organizational budget, update manuals, etc.
In return for your internship, you will be award with free mediation training upon completion of required hours.

Description
APADRC is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1989 to provide dispute resolution services to traditionally underserved communities that often face language, culture, and income barriers. The Center recognizes that cultural differences can play a role in contributing to a conflict; consequently, APADRC acts as a bridge to assist parties in reaching mutual understandings and equitable solutions.
