Did you know that a child with a parent in prison is 5 times more likely than their peers to be incarcerated themselves later on in life? Did you know Oklahoma incarcerates women at a higher rate than anywhere else in the world? New Hope Oklahoma works with youth 5-18 who have/have had an incarcerated parent, with the mission to end generational incarceration.
Among other services, we provide after school programs that serve as both a support group and a learning opportunity. Help make a difference for youth by co-leading an after-school group at Mark Twain Elementary every Wednesday afternoon. Work with staff to create a supportive, caring group. Help lead youth through games and lessons grounded in the evidence-based curricula used by New Hope to teach social, emotional, and leadership principles and build resilience. Most importantly, serve as a caring adult to youth in our community!

Description
At New Hope, lives are renewed everyday. When a child's parent goes to prison, life as they know it ends. Through our life affirming programs, children are lifted from isolation and fear, into possibility and hope. This is achieved by a circle of adults who care, a safe place with others who understand, a chance to imagine a life of possibilities and new futures born though hope, everyday.
