Caregivers frequently need someone to come in to stay with a family member for a few hours so that they can go to doctor's appointments, meeting or run errands. We need volunteers to stay with our patient to keep them company and make sure that they are safe. Volunteers are not expected to do any personal care for patients, but may be asked to make a light lunch or get snacks. This provides a chance for our families to have a break to get out of the home Our volunteers are a valuable addition to our hospice team. The make it possible for us to offer quality end of life care to our patients.View our video:

Mission Statement
In keeping with our United Methodist tradition, we seek to enhance the quality of life and holistic growth of older persons.
Description
We have an emotional bond with our Otterbein residents. We’d like it to remain unbroken. That’s why we’ve developed a hospice care ministry. Should any of our Otterbein family decide not to pursue aggressive medical care at the end of life, we want to be their hospice caregivers. Sending them somewhere else at the most important spiritual phase of life doesn’t sit well with us. Their life is here. We want to be with them at the end of it.
We plan to be physically, emotionally and spiritually present to our elders and their loved ones. Our hospice nurses will be responsive, sharing care options, and ensuring comfort. Our social workers and chaplains will be there with loving guidance. And our elders will be at home, in every sense of the word.
