We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in both learning to use our antique spinning wheel and/or loom that is on display as one of our exhibits. This volunteer would then be needed come in about once a week to actually operate the wheel or loom as a demonstration to school groups or other museum guests.
Here at the Institute of Texan Cultures we work to maintain an active and fun volunteer (or Docent as we call them ) program. Our Docents interpret exhibits to the public, lead tours or assist with other museum operations and many of them have been here for several years. Volunteer Docents all enjoy helping us explain to museum guests how Texan cultures of the past have a major influence on cultures of today.
If you are interested in this opportunity to both learn a skill and demonstrate it to museum guests here at the ITC please send me an email at:
paul.stevens@utsa.edu
Thank you,
Paul Stevens
