The Volunteer Respite Program strengthens families with children who have special needs by giving the parents or caregivers a much-needed break from direct care responsibilities. Parent are able to bring their children to the events where they are matched with a volunteer who will spend the day with the child, participating in a variety of activities available (crafts, basketball, bingo, etc), while the parents get some time to themselves to renew and recharge. We hold approximately 10+ events throughout the year at various locations in and around the Milwaukee area with approx. 60-80 children attending each event.
Time commitment for this event would be 8:00am to 3:00pm, approximately.
The children range at the events range in age from infant to 18 years old.
Nursing staff are on-hand for all toileting and medical needs. Nursing volunteers are needed, as well.
