ORGANIZATION: BUILDERS OF HOPE INC

We are looking for experienced grant writer(s) with experience in International Development and Social Entrepreneurship to help write and submit grants to leading foundations to fund our Eco Manyatta program.

The Eco Manyatta Program is an ambitious concept of improving the poor living condition in the traditional Maasai manyattas. The pillars of the program are the Manyatta design, co-operative lending model, and the economic empowerment of the Maasai people. This means creating an affordable design (Eco Manyatta) for the Maasai that includes eco-friendly features, developing a lending mechanism for purchase of the eco manyattas, and facilitating job creation in the construction industry by upskilling local youth and women to build the Eco Manyattas. Mission Statement

The Builders of Hope (BOH) mission is to increase the availability of high-quality, safe, affordable workforce housing options. Through innovative reuse and rehabilitation we incorporate economic benefits, environmental stewardship and social solutions. As social entrepreneurs, Builders of Hope sustainably revitalizes at-risk communities -- one home, one family, one life at a time. We strive to positively impact the development of livable, walkable, sustainable cities and to create stable communities so families can live where they work.

Description

Through its mission, Builders of Hope has establish the following strategic objectives to improve affordable housing across the globe:

  • Rebuild: Facilitate scaling of affordable housing utilizing sustainable construction practices.
  • Revitalize: Jump start low income housing construction through education, collaboration, and financial inclusion
  • Transform: Improve quality of life, create financial stability, and provide greater job opportunities with innovative technological solutions

Since it was founded in 2006, BOH has successfully rebuilt communities by constructing new homes and recycling existing inventory based on its patented "Extreme Green Rehabilitation" model for residential construction, creating beautiful, healthier single-family and multi-family residences that are energy efficient and less costly to maintain. In addition, BOH consistently works with partners to promote home ownership among low-to-moderate income families by providing access to a wide range of financing options and purchasing capacity. Through our patented process, we have delivered over 2,500 homes in the past ten years since we started across the United States. Since 2014, BOH has taken its process, which incorporates the principles of New Urbanism, across the United States and to multiple countries including Brazil, India, Kenya, and soon to be Rwanda.
