Event Volunteers Needed for International Dinner

Welcoming the Stranger is an educational nonprofit that offers free English, citizenship, and computer classes to immigrants and refugees.

Saturday, October 22nd, 6-9pm, Welcoming the Stranger (WTS) will be holding our big annual fundraising event, the International Dinner at Seton Hall, 1200 Park Ave, Bensalem, PA 19020. At this dinner, WTS students prepare food from all over the world to share with their teachers, classmates, and WTS supporters. There will be entertainment, auctions, and a raffle. We expect about 200 or so people to attend, so as you can imagine, we need lots of help to make this event a success!

The event is held on October 22nd but we will need people in advance so we can plan for the event and train volunteers to fulfill the roles below.

At the event, we need people to help fill the following roles:

Set up: from about 4-6pm we need people to help set the tables and prepare the room for attendees to arrive

Greeters: from about 5:30pm-6:30pm, we need people to help greet and direct guests as they arrive.

Student Registration: from about 5:30pm-6:30pm, we need people to help collect, label, and lay out the food as students drop it off.

Silent Auction: at approximately 7pm, we need a few people to help close out the silent auction table. This consists of taking away the pens so people cannot make any more bids, and marking the final winning bids on the bid sheets.

Raffle: from around 5:30pm-7:30pm, we need people to help sell raffle tickets.

Live Auction: from around 7:30pm-8pm, during the live auction, we need someone to help record the winners of the auction items.

Clean up: at the end of the night, at around 9-9:30pm, we need some help in cleaning up the tables and packing up any materials.
