Join I Love A Clean San Diego and San Diego Audubon in our efforts to restore native sand dunes at South Shores in Mission Bay!

Check-in location will be at the boat dock at South Shores in Mission Bay Park. Please ensure that vehicles are not parked in boat-loading spaces.

Come prepared to pull weeds like ice plant and mustard to protect the endangered Nuttall's lotus (a native dune plant). We will also be removing trash from the surrounding area. All of the necessary supplies (gloves, water, sunscreen and snacks, etc.) will be provided, but we recommend that volunteers come prepared in long pants and closed toed shoes and that they bring a reusable water bottle and a hat.

Every participant needs to sign a waiver; anyone under the age of 18 needs a parent or guardian signature to participate! RSVP by signing up at http://www.creektobay.org. Sign-ups begin on April 1st. You can also find out more by contacting San Diego Audubon's Conservation Project Coordinator, Megan Flaherty, at flaherty@sandiegoaudubon.org.

Mission Statement

Together we defend our region's birds, unique biodiversity, and threatened habitats through advocacy, education, and restoration. We envision a region in which people and nature are interconnected and thriving, where diverse communities find common ground to prioritize and respond to the climate crisis and other urgent threats to birds and the natural world, and give shape to an enduring culture of conservation and sustainability.

Description

San Diego Audubon Society (SDAS) is a chapter of the National Audubon Society, an organization founded in 1905 to stop the slaughter of wild birds for their feathers. Originally founded in 1948, SDAS has served the region for over 70 years. We serve a diverse population, with community-based habitat restoration projects, environmental education programs, and recreational offerings in North County, Metro, East County, and South Bay communities. Programs include conservation, education, recreation, and sanctuary operations. SDAS leads the way in fostering knowledge and appreciation of the natural world and seeks to become an even more significant resource for our communities through our education, environmental recreation, and numerous conservation programs.
