Do you love trees? Be A Smart Ash... Volunteer in support of the Denver urban forest!

Denver is in danger of losing 330,00 ash trees, or over 15% of our urban forest to Emerald Ash Borer (EAB), a devastating invasive insect!

'Be A Smart Ash’ is a proactive public awareness campaign to encourage people to take action and protect Denver's tree canopy. As a part of this campaign, we are delighted to be offering FREE TREES for planting in the public-right-of-way!

We need volunteers to help get the word out about this great opportunity. Walk our 'target' lower tree-canopy/lower income neighborhoods to distribute informational doorhangers where trees are needed most.

Canvass on your own time, at your own pace. Pick a neighborhood or we're happy to suggest one for you. Distribute as many or as few doorhangers as you’d like. There's no knocking on doors. It's easy and fun!

Mission Statement

The Park People works to preserve, enhance and advocate for Denver's parks, recreation resources, open space and urban forest.

Description

We are a private, non-profit organization that was founded in Denver in 1969. Since that time, we have devoted ourselves to improving the quality of life for communities throughout Denver by protecting and enhancing our green spaces and urban trees.

We primarily engage volunteers through our Denver Digs Trees program, which provides free and affordable trees to Denver residents. We also cultivate knowledgeable and skilled volunteers through our Community Forester program, which engages volunteers in planting and stewarding the city forest.

With a small staff of 2.5, we are blessed to have an amazing team of dedicated and passionate volunteers who make our work possible and welcome you to join us!
