South Bronx United College Prep Interns work closely with SBU educational staff in coordinating and supervising the SBU College Prep Program. The program provides academic support and mentorship for approximately 60 students in grades 10-12. Interns work 3 days a week and get hands on experience administering an educational program, tracking student progress towards college, and advising students on academic needs. The internship is perfect for those looking to gain experience in the fields of educational administration and school counseling.

When:
Fall Internship: September - December
Spring Internship: mid/late January - May

Where:
The Urban Assembly School for Careers in Sports, 2nd Floor, Mott Haven Campus, 730 Concourse Village West, Bronx, NY 10451.

Qualifications:
Enthusiastic and caring with a specific interest in education and youth empowerment. Should have a background in working with youth.

Commitment:
A minimum of 3 days a week for one semester (NY public school semester, not college). 6-8pm on Mondays and Wednesdays is required. 3rd day is flexible.

Training:
All interns will receive training from our Director of College Placement and Recruitment.

Benefits:
While the position is unpaid, interns have the opportunity to work directly with our Director of College Placement and Education Director and learn firsthand best practices for ensuring a pathway to college for all students.

Responsibilities in Detail:
* Track program attendance and progress of all students
* Family outreach/student outreach to improve student attendance at programs
* Manage procurement and entry of student records and documents(transcripts, report cards, tax returns, waivers)
* Research important college prep resources needed for each student (relevant scholarships, trade schools, additional SAT Prep & Regents Prep resources, GED options)

South Bronx United is a youth development organization dedicated on serving the South Bronx through education, mentoring, and soccer programs. Our goal is use the sport and the strength of mentoring to help boys and girls, ages 4-19, develop as leaders and scholars.
