Do you want to make a difference? Do you want to help a young girl succeed in her personal, educational, and professional life? The YWCA National Capital Area is looking for passionate, engaged young women between the ages of 19-26 to serve as youth mentors in this year's EMPOwERgirlz mentoring and leadership development program!
EMPOwERgirlz meets bi-monthly, two Saturdays a month from 8:45AM-3:00PM, from September through April. Lunch and breakfast are provided for mentors and participants. The curriculum focuses on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) exploration and covers a variety of other topics - from Heath & Nutrition to Social & Racial Justice. Throughout the program, the participants engage in academic enrichment, leadership development, and career & college exploration.
Mentor Requirements:
Mentors should be able to commit to attending the EMPOwERgirlz Saturday sessions with their mentees for the entire program year, as well as 10-20 hours of one-on-one engagement over the course of that year.
Mentors must complete a 2-hour training and ongoing professional development, background check, and required health screenings.

Description
Founded in 1905, YWCA National Capital Area dismantles barriers faced by women, girls, and people of color as they work to develop and sustain healthy lives. Women and girls come to us in times of transition for job training and career counseling. They come for mission-based skill-building programs for their families. They come in times of crisis as survivors of rape or domestic violence.
