Delaware Peace Club, a grassroots not-for-profit handling a variety of social issues, is looking for a volunteer to join our Board of Directors as Secretary. As an officer of the organization, the Secretary commits to working in partnership with the Board and the staff to assist the organization in accomplishing its goals.
This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills, with extensive knowledge of English language grammatical skills. Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency are a bonus, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this position.
Responsibilities
In addition to meeting all of the responsibilities of a member of the Board,
Conduct all board and executive committee meetings according to best practices. If I am unable to attend a meeting, it is my responsibility to notify the Vice President of the Board to conduct the meeting in my absence.
Serve as an ex-officio member of all committees
Work in partnership with the CEO to accomplish the goals of the organization
Being a connector to people, resources, and ideas
Be the primary representative of the board with funders or at meetings in the community
Lead the effort to recruit new members for the board of directors
Be the coach of the board: motivator, accountability point person, and thank-er
Play a leading role in fundraising activities
Coordinate the CEO’s annual performance evaluation
Periodically consult with board members on their roles and to help them assess their performance
Appoint all committee chairs and, with the CEO, recommend who will serve on committees
Requirements

Applicants should have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of grammar and diction.
Time Commitment
This position requires 3-5 hours per month , for 12 months. Roughly three hours each month will be in-office near Ursuline Academy in Wilmington, DE. We may consider virtual positions with video conferencing in place of in-office hours.

Our organization utilizes a self-sustainable business model to stimulate economic growth in disadvantaged communities by providing essential services, vocational training, and jobs for our targeted population.
Our materials are used to publicize the unknown issues that our target demographic usually faces alone. We seek open-minded volunteers who have a vested interest in helping our targeted demographic help themselves.
