ORGANIZATION: Community Forklift

  • 4 people are interested

Are you a great photographer? Do you love parties? Want to support a great cause? Then we have the volunteer opportunity for you!

Community Forklift celebrates the kickoff of the holiday season each year with a GREEN Friday and Small Business Saturday Extravaganza. Shop green, shop small, or don't shop at all-- but come celebrate community with us! We bring in live music, local artists and eco-friendly vendors displaying their wares, food trucks, free hot cider, kids' activities and SANTA of course, gift-making workshops, and other types of educational workshops from Friday to Saturday, November 25-26.

So where do you fit in? Well, we've never had someone to help us capture all the fun before! We would love to have photos of this event to share with the community after the event, help us promote it for years to come, help our local vendors and bands promote themselves, maybe start a funky photo booth... sky's the limit.

If you can't come in both days or stay a full day, that's okay. Just let us know your availability and we'll see what we can do. We look forward to working with you!

About Community Forklift

Location:

4671 Tanglewood Drive, 5 min from NE DC, near Hyattsville Arts District, Edmonston, MD 20781, US

Mission Statement

Community Forklift is a nonprofit reuse center that lifts up our local communities in many ways! We make repairs and renovation more affordable for homeowners, nonprofits, small businesses, and everyone else in the DC metro region. Our environmental impact is twofold: not only do we reduce waste by saving these materials from landfills and promoting reuse, but in turn we reduce the mining and harvesting of dwindling natural resources as well. The Forklift has also added 45 "green collar" jobs to the local economy, provides free public education about sustainability and green living, and donates materials free-of-cost to neighbors in need and local community groups.

Description

Community Forklift is a nonprofit reuse center for home improvement supplies. We accept donations of surplus and salvaged building materials throughout the metro DC region and make these items available to the public at low cost.
