Mission Statement
Girls Inc. Westchester is dedicated to inspiring all girls to be strong, smart, and bold and to grow up healthy, educated, and independent.
Description
For more than 150 years, Girls Inc. has been providing programs throughout the country that are specifically designed to address girls' unique strengths and needs. In 2007, Girls Inc. brought its nationally-proven program model to Westchester to make sure that girls here have the support, the resources, and the opportunities they need to succeed.
Girls Inc. Westchester's target population is middle and high school girls in the county's most disadvantaged communities. We have recently offered after-school programs in White Plains, New Rochelle, Yonkers, and Ossining, some of Westchester's most challenging communities, and 90% of the girls we serve are girls of color.
Girls Inc. provides after-school programs that help girls address a wide range of issues vital to their healthy development -- issues like body image, pregnancy prevention, economic literacy, violence prevention, leadership, and more. All programs are designed to enable and inspire girls to achieve their potential. In the past, Girls Inc. Westchester has helped thousands of local girls see themselves and their futures in a whole new light.
