Join us at our Monroe Street Market Arts Walk office to help us decorate costumes for our performances, no sewing skills required. Bring your imagination, we’ll provide the rest. You will be helping us make hats and tutus! Only Make Believe creates and performs interactive theatre in children's hospitals and care facilities. The costumes you will decorate are for the children who participate in our performances. Costumes are the first step in creating a world in the child's imagination, seemingly worlds away from their hospital room.
Once you express interest through VolunteerMatch, Only Make Believe will contact you to reserve a spot.
We are always in need of used ribbon, bubbles, and fabric remnants. Feel free to bring some with you if you have any on hand that you are interested in donating!

Only Make Believe is dedicated to the principle that freeing a child's imagination is a valuable part of the healing process. Our vision is to bring joy and inspiration to as many children with chronic illness and disabilities as possible, across the United States and around the world.
Description
Only Make Believe is a non-profit organization that creates and performs interactive theatre for children in hospitals, care facilities, and schools with dedicated special education programs. We visit these sites with professional actors for three-week performance cycles. Our interactive program engages, inspires and empowers children living with chronic illness and disabilities through the collaborative process of theater.
We started performing our interactive shows in one hospital in 1999, and now, thanks to your support we’re in more than 50 hospitals in New York City, Washington D.C., and beyond!
