AmeriCorps VISTA is a year-long service project focused on capacity building. The program was created in 1965 as a way to combat poverty in the U.S. with passion. Today, there are hundreds of VISTAs across the nation committed to service in their communities. VISTAs are expected to commit one year to serving the community and are paid at the federal poverty level. For more information about VISTA, including a description of the program benefits, read more on the National Service website: http://www.nationalservice.gov/programs/americorps/americorps-vista.
