Can you imagine yourself helping our youth grow as leaders and excel in school? If so, serving with the YELLS Afterschool Program as a Homework Helper is the perfect chance to make a difference!


YELLS has a fun and dynamic Afterschool Program that needs your help! We encourage our youth (Kindergarten-5th grade) to engage in fun, academic and recreational activities that will enrich their development mentally and physically, while exploring their creativity. We need volunteers who are creative and positive to provide concentrated instructional support and aid in the tutoring of our youth.

Homework Helpers are encouraged to build positive relationships while guiding the YELLS youth on a path towards academic success. YELLS Afterschool program is looking for volunteers eager to tutor in basic math, reading, and language arts skills. you may volunteer in this role for as little as one day a week or as much as every weekday.


  • Ensure students complete daily homework
  • Help student understand homework
  • Assist student in reading, writing, and math
  • Provide positive reinforcement about students strength
  • Come up with engaging academic games/activities for when homework is completed
  • Give adequate attention to academic areas needing improvement
  • Provide positive communication during and after tutoring sessions
