v What is the Advocates role?
To provide compassionate and confidential support to victims of a sexual assault during an exam at Bronson/Lakeview Hospital in Paw Paw, MI
v Will I need to be trained for this position?
Yes, SAS of Bronson Healthcare will offer in-depth training
Saturday, October 8 th and 15 th 9-5 p.m. at Bronson Hospital in Battle Creek, plus two evening meetings (yet to be determined) in Paw Paw to hear from the Van Buren County Prosecutor’s office and tour Bronson/Lakeview hospital in Paw Paw.
v What is the commitment involved?
Be available for at least 4 shifts per month. The volunteer schedule is made two months in advance.
Shift hours are: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.,
5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.,
5:00 p.m. to midnight, or
Midnight to 8:00 a.m.
Attend monthly meetings for ongoing training and case discussions. Right now meetings are scheduled for:
Aug. 24 th, Sept. 28 th, Oct. 26 th and Dec. 14 th 5:30-7:00 p.m.
