We're lookingfor a bright, well organized and outgoing volunteer who can take the lead on our volunteer program. You will be a part of building an innovative hospice model that provides celebrative experiences to kids with life-limiting illnesses and their caregivers. We plan to build the first free-standing children’s palliative care home in Seattle and to transform the way our nation takes care of this very underserved community.

Duties and Responsibilities

The volunteer liaison will:

  • Assist with volunteer outreach and recognition activities
  • Assist in building LBH’s orientation packet and training tools
  • Keep COO informed about issues affecting the volunteer experience

  • Work with the volunteer team to prospect and solicit new volunteers
  • Help increase (and formalize) communications with volunteers via volunteer updates
  • Provide support and information to new and existing volunteers on LBH requirements
  • Maintain all volunteer records throughout the volunteer pipeline
  • Manage the Volgistics database and run required reports
  • Ensure volunteers are following procedures in tracking their time
  • Assist in problem-solving if and when the need arises
  • Identify potential problems early when they can be solved more easily before they become deeper misunderstandings which are more difficult to resolve

Qualifications

  • Self-starter with ability to set and honor commitments
  • Not easily overwhelmed and can set priorities and manage multiple deadlines
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Database and basic website maintenance experience
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to build strong relationships with new people and organizations
  • Able to follow-up in a timely manner when information is needed/missing

Time Period

This position requires a minimum 6 month commitment for 10+ hours per month and will require approximately 2-3 update meetings a month (face to face in the Ladybug House office, or via phone). Ideally, we would like 1-2 people in this role who could split the work of checking in about 3 times a week so that communication with the volunteer team is continuous.

Benefits and recognition

Volunteers are highly valued members of the Ladybug House (LBH) team and contribute to making a significant difference in LBH’s ability to transform the way our country cares for families dealing with children with life-limiting illnesses. LBH will publically recognize our volunteers via our Team page on the website and our Volunteer Spotlight section of our quarterly newsletter. We will also provide reference letters and LinkedIn recommendations for all volunteers who successfully complete a placement.

About LBH
