In our continual efforts to improve the experience of our guest filmmakers, we are seeking well-organized individuals to join the Guest Services team as Liaison volunteers. These Liaisons will act as the main point of contact on-site to assist filmmaker in connecting with the programmer and house manager who will be running the introduction and Q&A for their MVFF screenings. Pre-festival, you will assemble welcome materials that empower filmmakers with the knowledge needed to navigate the festival successfully. During the festival, you will be assigned a theater, where you will create an immediate sense of belonging for filmmakers as they arrive to their screenings, showcase your skill in providing anticipatory customer service, and share your lifelong appreciation for the beauty of Marin County with those visiting us for the first time.
This is a seasonal, unpaid volunteer position that will begin October 6 and ends October 16, 2016. Extended hours and weekend work will be required leading up to and during the Film Festival. Training days before the festival will be required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Nurture your talent for creating 'wow' experiences for filmmakers from all over the world
Bond with a tight-knit group of Guest Service volunteers who share a passion for uncompromising service
Inspire the team to become the standard by which all other Guest Service departments are measured
Arrive on time for all trainings and shifts
Attend one-on-one training with Guest Services Coordinators and Manager
Mandatory Theater Ops training
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Must have previous film festival experience, preference given to guest services expertise
Ability to learn quickly and work in a very fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Professional communication skills essential
This position will receive a personalized Volunteer Badge so you can gain entry to theaters and venues while on shift. Volunteers receive one MVFF voucher per shift to see films while not on shift, invitations to special screenings, and the post-festival Volunteer Appreciation Party.
