Volunteer Position Description: Volunteers will assist with various event planning activities for our Kentucky Derby Day Party event, which benefits the SmilePak program in Lakeland, Fl. SmilePak distributes backpacks of food to children in hunger insecure households so that they have adequate nutrition throughout the weekend when school lunches are not provided.

Volunteers can choose their level of involvement with each activity, which can include:

• Attending committee meetings
• Helping to solicit and collect silent auction items
• Assisting with decorations
• Assisting with set-up / break-down the day of the event

Schedule Requirements: This position is available off site, and therefore volunteers may complete projects on a weekly basis as their schedule permits from August 15, 2016 - May 6 2016. Volunteer committee members must attend the event on May 6, 2017.

Commitment requirements: This position requires a 5 hour/week service commitment from now until the event on May 6, 2017.

Qualifications: Ideal volunteers for the committee will be creative, willing to solicit local business, and a team player. Volunteers must have their own transportation.

Age Restrictions: This position is available to volunteers ages 21 and older.
