Mission: Big Apple Greeter’s mission is to enhance New York City’s worldwide image and enrich the New York experience by connecting visitors with knowledgeable and enthusiastic volunteers. Our goal is to promote New York City as friendly, inviting, and manageable; to bolster tourism and to foster economic development; and to create opportunities for New Yorkers to show pride in their city and give something back to the city.
Activities and Qualifications: The job requires a variety of office skills, including: writing, typing and revising letters; mail merges; data entry; communicating by telephone and e-mail; photocopying and filing materials. Knowledge of MS Word and Excel a must, MS Access a plus.
Good interpersonal and organizational skills are needed, as well as attention to detail and accuracy and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently. College students, graduate students, and seniors welcome.
Benefits: This is a good opportunity for someone who either has non-profit experience or who would like to learn the workings of a non-profit organization up close. This person would be working with other volunteers in a congenial environment.
