Do you like to share your sumptuous food creations with others? Do you like to broaden people's flavor horizons with new and exciting recipes? Then it sounds like you want to be a Guest Chef at Cocoon House!

At Cocoon House, we have 5 different locations that serve meals 7 days a week, 365 days a year. You can come in and prepare an evening meal at our facility, or bring one that has been prepared elsewhere, either hot or frozen for use later!

Chefs are encouraged to interact with youth by inviting them into the cooking process or staying for mealtime, or simply drop off the meal and be on your way! Chefs are also encouraged to consider nutrition and popularity when selecting dishes to prepare.

This is an ideal opportunity for an individual or small group, being a Guest Chef is one of the most popular volunteer positions at Cocoon House. It allows you to meet a crucial need for our youth and interact as much or as little as you desire! Guest Chefs must provide the food and supplies (except dishes) for their meals.

Meal sizes range from 6 servings all the way up to 25, depending on your ability and cooking capacity. So no matter how much you can cook, or how often, we have a program that can HUGELY benefit from your skills!

Mission Statement

The mission of Cocoon House is to empower young people, families, and the community to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing and prevention.

Description

Cocoon House has built, innovated and adapted programs to benefit homeless, at-risk, and disconnected young people in Snohomish County. Opening in 1991 as an 8 bed emergency shelter, Cocoon House quickly grew to include long term housing, street outreach and a nationally recognized prevention program that focuses on parents building their family management skills. These programs work together to address teen homelessness from all angles ensuring the best possible outcomes for young people as they transition into more successful futures.

Cocoon House is strongly committed to removing barriers and supporting inclusion and diversity in all its forms. We strive to create a safe and open atmosphere for young people, families, staff, board members, community partners and funders. We learn from the diverse individuals we work with and embrace their unique attributes to ensure we fulfill our agency mission and core values.
