Use your skills to help the immigrant community and experience the joy of helping someone change their life. We are looking for committed volunteers to teach Spanish speaking students. Volunteers teach one, three-hour class a week for ten weeks. All classes are on Sundays. Previous teaching experience is not necessary, but commitment, ability and a desire to teach are key. Our teachers have included those with experience, those undergoing teacher training and those who have no experience at all. Some classes require Spanish speakers, but some do not. Comite En Union para Salvadorenos (CEUS) is a 501 (c)3 non-profit organization based in Union City, NJ that was founded by Central American refugees to help immigrants create a better life for themselves. The classes are now offered at Centro Comunitario CEUS, our community center 15 minutes from Manhattan. Our website is www.ceusnj.org. CEUS has organized ESL classes for 23 years.
