Disability, Race, and the Practice of Dance/NYC: Carrie Sandahl with Aimee Meredith Cox; Tuesday, September 20, 2106; 6:00-8:00pm
Dance Educators and Disability: Victoria Marks with David Dorfman; Monday, October 17, 2016; 6:00-8:00pm
Disability and National Synergies in Dance: Judith Smith with Alice Sheppard; Tuesday, November 15, 2016; 6:00-8:00pm
About the event:
Join Dance/NYC for a series of conversations at the intersection of disability and dance. Each event pairs a New York City dance leader with an (inter)national guest working at this nexus. Our goal is to forge a place for disabled artists/artistry in New York's cultural ecosystem, a place where disabled artists can flourish. We invite you to work with us to create new places for disabled artists in NYC's cultural landscape. To learn more about the series, follow this link:

Volunteer Opportunities
Currently, we have three volunteer opportunities:
Week-Of: Week-Of volunteers come in for a total of 9 hours. One five-hour shift takes place the week before or after the event and is flexible upon availability. Tasks include: support with administration, production, media editing, and post-production. The second shift takes place on the day of the event for four hours. Tasks include: set-up, registration, guest relations, photography, and communications. Volunteers will receive an orientation and work detail information upon arriving to their first shift.
Day-Of: Day-Of volunteers attend the event, volunteering for a minimum of four hours. Volunteers are typically scheduled in work stations, including production areas such as registration, guest relations, photography, and communications. Volunteers will receive an orientation and work detail information upon arriving to their shift.
Guest Relations: Guest Relations volunteers work directly with assisting our speakers during their stay in New York City. Tasks entail providing general assistance and support to guests - specifically, helping them access local transportation, maintaining their schedule and itinerary, and facilitating their accessibility needs to and from the event venue. We are particularly interested in volunteers who have experience as access workers or assistants for disabled people.
All volunteers will receive a complimentary NEW YORKERS FOR DANCE T-shirt.
Visit www.dance.nyc/volunteer to register as a volunteer.
